The Greenburgh Town Board unanimously approved a new leaf blower law on May 16th. The leaf blower law focuses on noise levels.
The simultaneous operation of more than one leaf blower on property of ten thousand (10,000) square feet or less in area is prohibited. The simultaneous operation of four or more leaf blowers on any size parcel is prohibited.
Among complaints we received in the past was from residents complaining that landscapers were simultaneously using more than one leaf blower on properties in residential neighborhoods – making it difficult for people to work at home or relax.
Operation of a gasoline-powered power lawn mower, leaf blower or other gasoline-powered lawn or garden equipment or construction tool in a residential zone may not exceed 75 dBA at any time. Operation of gasolinepowered leaf and garden blowers in excess of 55 dBA is prohibited. from May 1 through October 1 of each year.
In the coming weeks we will begin an education campaign and will work with the police department on enforcement measures. A copy of the law can be found below. We hope the new law will enable residents to enjoy a better quality of life.
